The City of New Haven needed a new comfort station within Fairmont Park to serve a diverse group of park users, including both passive and active recreation.  In order to provide a low-maintenance, high life-cycle building in this urban park, the building incorporates a board-formed, cast-in place concrete structure, secured openings, and lead coated copper roofing.  These materials minimize vandalism while incorporating elemental vernacular forms and proportions, echoing those found in the architecture of the surrounding neighborhood.
