To better serve the Fern Street neighborhood in West Hartford, an antiquated swimming pool was replaced with a new six-lane, 25-yard lap pool with a connected zero-depth entry leisure and recreational pool.  A splash pad, adjacent to the pool, can be accessed from within the pool complex during the swim season and from the Park itself in the off-seasons, allowing for an extended aquatic season.  The splash pad is oriented for younger children, while the more active swimming pool area provides activities for a broad range of users.

A 1950’s vintage building was updated to provide Special Needs Changing Rooms and fully accessible facilities within the male and female locker rooms.  New ramps and site work integrate the new facility with the sloping site and connects it to ball fields, tennis courts, playscapes and other park improvements to provide park users with a varied experience.
