For over a decade, TLBA has partnered with the City of New Britain to provide design services in support of their commitment to the recreational needs of one of the State’s largest and most diverse cities. These services have ranged from minor maintenance improvement is their parks, to construction of new multimillion dollar, state-of-the-art facilities.

In 2005, the City opened the brand new Willow Brook Park Pool.  The innovative design integrated learn-to-swim, leisure & recreational activities, competitive swimming, interactive water play and a water slide in a single 7,000 square foot body of water, making the pool a family destination.  Access to the pool by means of a beach-type entry allows swimmers of all age groups and abilities to enter the water at within their own comfort level.  The bathhouse provides shower and changing room, special needs changing rooms and space for lifeguards, first-aid and mechanical equipment.  A full-service snack-bar is also provided, encouraging longer visits to the pool.  Generous lawn areas provide informal use, as well as planned activities and picnics.   Master Plans for the park also included a 350-foot long water slide with a 30-foot vertical drop to a plunge pool, adjacent to the Rockcats Baseball Stadium.

In 2013, Chesley Park Splash Pad was opened and immediately became a destination for the neighborhood and camps.  With dozens of spray features, there is something for everyone, from toddlers to seniors.

Currently on the boards are Phase 2 of the Chesley Pool expansion and the construction of a new pool at Washington Park.  At Chesley Park, the new splash pad will be integrated into the overall pool complex, and a new pool will be constructed with a 25-yard pool, 1-meter diving and ample shallow water, including a zero-depth entry.

At Washington Park, the new pool will include a 25-yard lap pool, as well as aquatic climbing walls and interactive spray features.  A zero-depth entry and shallow water make the pool ideal for young swimmers and families.
