Wallingford Community Pool

Wallingford, Connecticut

In the 1990’s TLBA was retained to renovate the existing Wallingford Community Pool. Once the largest cementitious pond in the nation, this one-acre, one-million-gallon pool was completely renovated, re-establishing its prominence in the community. Improved to meet current codes at the time, it received a new recirculation system, perimeter deck, site improvements, bathhouse renovations and a new bituminous concrete pool lining.

Nearly 25 years later, TLBA was once again called upon to improve facilities, but this time the project included a Master Plan of the entire Park to optimize its use for a wide range of programs. This effort included a variety of options for pool design and layout, including various approaches to shallow water, lap swim, deep water and/or splash pad layout. The Design Team undertook an extensive existing conditions analysis of the swimming pool as well as the decks, site improvements, buildings, swimming pool systems and mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.

Now through Bid Phase, the project is awaiting approval from the Town to begin construction and complete improvements that have been years in the making.
