The conversion of this early 19th century structure to a dormitory suitable to accommodate students from Israel brought some interesting challenges.  The extensive renovations included the addition of a stair tower, renovations to include 20 bedrooms, laundry, kosher kitchen, and bathroom facilities. The building, known as “The Bayit”, incorporates a Havarah and synagogue into the building and has become not just the residential center for the Jewish Community on campus, but also a social and spiritual center.
