URI Center for Biotechnology & Life Sciences Ryan Institute Lab

Kingston, Rhode Island

In 2017 TLBA was invited by URI Campus Planning & Design to participate in an Advanced Planning Study to plan a center for collaborative research on the Kingston campus. It was envisioned that faculty, investigators and students from the George & Anne Ryan Institute for Neuroscience, the College of Pharmacy (COP) and the College of the Environment and Life Sciences (CELS) would collaborate within the center.

The near-term objective of the planning/feasibility assignment was to identify appropriate research space, within URI’s existing available inventory, for immediate assignment of collaborating faculty, investigators and students.

The first project to come out of the study was Phase I interior renovations to fit-out existing shell space at the Plaza level of the Center for Biotechnology & Life Sciences (CBLS) for a wet bench biology laboratory. The lab consists of open lab bench space, a fume hood alcove, equipment room, Tissue Culture room and entry/Locker room.
